Eurovision World Cup: Poland vs Greece

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

It is Day 6 of the World Cup, and we’re continuing the week with 2 matches from Group H and we are back to the start with a match from Group A. This match is between Poland and Greece, so let’s see who is representing the competitors!

Today’s Competitors:

We first saw Poland at Eurovision in 1994, and it’s safe to say that the nation has had a mixed history since their debut. Poland has not yet won the contest, although they came close in their debut year. This was actually their best result so far, finishing in second with Edyta Górniak and her entry To nie ja which is Poland’s entry in the Eurovision World Cup.

Greece has been competing at Eurovision for many years, having made their debut in 1974. Since then they have had mixed results, but a fair few Top 10 finishes throughout the years. They really found their groove in the 2000’s where they finished in 3rd place a few times, plus they won the contest! They have won only once which was in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her song My Number One, which is representing Greece in our Eurovision World Cup.
